Yvonne has always been fascinated
by plant propagation so when our friend Paul Hutchinson
(from Belshazzar’s Feast & Hoover the Dog)
offered us his 45’ x 15’ polytunnel quite
a number of years ago, we couldn’t resist. The
first year was brilliant with fantastic vegetables and
salad crops. We were then introduced to vegetable plug
plant production and that is when we started our Mail
Order business which was highly recommended by Gardening
Which? magazine. We grew a huge range of vegetable plants
but with the increase in postal charges we decided to
call it a day. However, we still grow the varieties
but sell them at local Farmer’s Markets.
We decided to create a Cottager’s
Nursery, growing many of the plants that you would have
seen in a cottage garden eg Vegetables, Salads, Herbs,
Fruit Bushes and Trees together with Cottage Garden Perennials.
We
have demonstration raised beds with examples of plants
available for sale. All plants are grown from seed under
cover with peat free or reduced peat compost. We use organic
compost where possible.
Plug plants are propagated under
cover. All trays are hand sown and free of sprays.
